I received many things over the years from my father-in-law, his kindness, sense of humor, respect, love, charm, and joy in his grandchildren among them. I saw these in his eyes and I swear the depth grew deeper as the years passed. Writing this, Im finding these things are hard to represent here intended to honor my relationship with him and the ongoing depth of his loss in my life. The night before he died. He was unconscious in what became his deathbed. I had a strong desire to give him a hug before leaving, I leaned in and hold his hand and said the words that had been resonating in my mind for days, Thank you for been the best Father in Law someone can ask for and Thank you for letting me be part of your family . I will miss you!!!
