Samuel "Sam" Marshall Obituary

Samuel Marshall, 66, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the John J, Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born in Rich, Mississippi on August 11, 1947 to the late Robert and Murlee Jones Marshall.


Sam was a graduate of SikestonHigh School and was employed for many years as a machine operator at the former Potlack Corporation in Sikeston.

He was married to Gloria (Blue) Marshall of Sikeston, Mo. who survives.  Other survivors include three daughters, Samantha (Tycee) Williams of Eureka, Mo., Angela (Eddie) Williams of Pacific, Mo., and Tanya  (Glen) Mitchell of Blytheville, Ark.  Two brothers, Lewis Allen (L.A.) Marshall and Quincy Marshall both of Sikeston, Mo., and one sister, Jessie (Marshall) Lane, also of Sikeston, Mo..  He is also survived by several grandchildren, neices, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends

He was a member of The New Covenent Christian Fellowship Ministries in Sikeston, Mo under the leadership of Bishop Calvin Byrd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Marshall and Edgar Lee Marshall and one sister Johnnie Mae Mitchell.

Sam enjoyed frying fish, family gatherings where he wsa known for his skills on the bar-b-que grill and just having fun.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Green Memorial Church of God in Christ with Bishop Calvin Byrd Officiating.  Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service beginning at 1:00 pm.

Burial with full Military Honors will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Monday, March 24, 2014 in Bloomfield, Mo.
