1947 - 2021

Sandra McDurman Garrett, 73, of Tifton, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her home.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lennon Howell officiating.  Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.   Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM -2:00 PM Thursday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

          Casketbearers will be Thomas Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Travis Tyson, Tray Tyson, Brian Burdett and Timothy Harsey.

          Born July 24, 1947 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Herman McDurman and Rennie Pope McDurman.  Mrs. Garrett was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Omega.  She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   One of her favorite pastimes was watching tv.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley Bennett; sisters, Doris Simmons, Patsy Tyson and Jane Rayburn; brothers, Buddy McDurman, Jack McDurman and Wayne McDurman.

          Survivors include her children, Homer Tyson, Jr. and wife Ronett of Mitchell County, Rena Burdett and husband Steve of Sycamore; grandchildren, Wendy Harsey and husband Timothy, Tray Tyson and fiancé Lizzie Green, Brian Burdett and wife Alisha, Kelly Harrison and husband Seth, Travis Tyson and wife Taylor, Tyler Pantone; great-grandchildren, Andrew Turner, Chris Turner, Taylor Turner, Emma Moore, Wesley Harsey, Charlee Harsey, Kaydence Tyson, Joslynn Tyson, Kaycee Burdett and Mason Tyson.
