Sandra Thurnau Obituary

On July 5th, 2024, Sandra K. Thurnau (Johnson) passed away peacefully, at Belleville Memorial Hospital, due to complications from ALS, with family by her side.

Sandy was born August 14th, 1949, to Richard C. and Irma J. (Wilson) Johnson, in Galesburg, IL.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James L. Thurnau, daughter Jenny R. Thurnau, daughter Carrie A. Thurnau, and her brother Ray C. Johnson.

Her parents preceded Sandy's death.

Sandy worked as a bookkeeper for Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan, a secretary at Carl Sandburg College, then was a Deputy Assessor for the Galesburg City Assessor's office, until her retirement in 2015.

In her free time, Sandy enjoyed reading, watching QVC, trips to Disney, and spending time with family and friends.

Per Sandra's wishes, the family is foregoing funeral services or celebration of life.

Her family appreciates everyone's continued love and support as they navigate this new chapter.
