Savina Parrino Campo (92 yrs of age), passed away on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at her home, surrounded by her beloved children. She was born on April 10, 1933 to Tony Parrino and Jennie Triolo Parrino in Independence, Louisiana. She married Steve J. Campo and they established a family home on Mulberry St. declaring that they wanted to "fill it up with children". And they did, rearing their nine children in their family home, enjoying 68 years of marriage and active family and community life.
Savina was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to her family and community. She was a faithful member of St. Helena Catholic Church, serving on the Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Ecumenical Ministry and the St. Joseph Altar Committee. She was devoted to the holy daily mass and holy days of worship, as well as family recitation of The Holy Rosary, taught to all her children. Mother held her Rosary in her hands every night for prayer, even through her time of passing.
Savina created a beautiful, artful home environment of treasured objects from our Italian grandparents, our Father's many business awards, and religious statues and pictures of The Holy Family. She provided a range of books, encyclopedias, music classical, popular, Jazz and religious. The two volumes of the Lives of Saints was prominently displayed in our living room. She meant for us to understand and appreciate our religion, family and learning, as she herself pursued all her life. She encouraged us to fully pursue a good education and profession and contribute to the good of our family and community.
She taught us and encouraged us to always be close and respectful of our family. She especially wanted us to know that the best way to rear our children was to "love them, love them, love them".
Savina was a great home-maker and enjoyed hosting family celebrations, holidays, and friends, especially her bridge club friends. There was always plenty to eat for the family, friends and relatives always stopping by. She always said "there's always room for one more"! She always had dessert waiting for the occasional visitor. Her Italian dishes and desserts were everyone's favorites. She truly was the "hostess with the mostest".
Savina loved and enjoyed working in her yard. There were many times she sent her children to school with a flower for their teacher. She loved picking the flowers in her yard and making flower arrangements in our home. Mother said remember that in your home, yard, hosting "simplicity is the key to good design", "you don't need to overdo it".
Savina and Steve were married October 22, 1950. On June 8, 2018, Steve passed away at home, surrounded by his devoted wife and children, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 90. Together they were determined to help their children attain their life goals and insured that each attended Southeastern Louisiana University, to obtain their college degrees and on to advanced degrees.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Stephanie Fay Campo, Dr. Kathryn Kirkhart, JoAnn Campo Beach, Peter Beach, Steve Joseph Campo, Jr, Loreta Genco Campo, Anthony Campo, Dr. Joseph John Campo, Sr., Alice Foulks Campo, Jennie Campo Littlewood, Dr. Steven Littlewood, Mark Campo, Nancy Smith Campo, Samuel Vincent Campo, Sr., Brynn Hastings Campo, and Dr. Frank Mario Campo, Sr., Tammy Gaeta Campo.
Savina was the proud grandmother to 65 beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Callan, Kristy, Emily and Leah Beach, Laura Beach and Noah Gatlin, Thomas and Dr. Layla Beach, Steve J. Campo, III, Aimee, John Peter and Brock Campo, Mary Lauren, Eric, Mary Beth and Marcella Savina Vernon, Jennifer, Ronnie and Roman Mangipano, Tommy Tiche, Braden Chandler, Cara, Lathan, and Mabel Campo, Rachel, Cory, Ace, Hays and Kathryn Blunk, Ashley, Jonathan, Jackson, Beau, Miley Kate Olivier, Dr. Joseph Campo, Jr and Silvia, Nicholas and Oliver Campo, David, Lisa and Haylee Jane, Evan and Tyler Campo, Ryan, Emily Cassidy and June Littlewood, Dr. Alden Littlewood, Susannah Littlewood, Joshua, Fallon, Easton, Liam, Luke and Wyatt Campo, Jacob and Dr. Jaci Campo, Layton, Maeson, and Kayce Campo,, Samuel Campo, Jr and Dr. Kalie Beckers Campo, Mario and Kennidee Campo, Micah and Sarah Campo.
Savina is survived by her sister Carol Parrino Campo and her brother in law John Joseph Campo, Sr. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Jennie Triolo Parrino and parents-in-law, Joseph John Campo, Sr. and Fannie Schittone Campo, and sisters Catherine (Katie) Sirchia, Teresa Statham Husser, and brother Frank Parrino.
Savina was a humble, gracious, kind, loving person who cherished meaningful relationships with each of her children, friends, and helpers-caretakers. Her strong faith, hope and love in God were the guiding forces in her life. She was a beacon of inspiration and encouragement to us all, forever cherished in our memory, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mother and our family were greatly thankful to the many devoted Helpers/Caretakers who assisted her through the 7 years to remain at home having the quality of life she always cultivated and shared with her family and friends. Oschner Egan Hospice provided excellent health care, enabling Mother to maintain her quality of life in the last two years of her life. Mother and our family were greatly thankful for her granddaughter Cara Campo, Professional Nurse, who lived with Mother and gave her health care/personal care as needed in between her full time nursing job. Also especially thankful too, for our brother Anthony, who living with Mother maintained loving care, home stability, comfort, security and beloved family and religious obligations Mother held.
Mother and family appreciated the St. Helena Catholic Church for giving her Holy Communion and prayer through the assistance of Judy Williams and Ramona LaBarbera.

Savina, was a lovely, gracious and thoughtful lady. I was delighted to have her as my Sister, even though we were "in-laws." I shared many a wonderful meal and time at her home both with Frank and after he died. Savina and Steve were great parents and delightful people to be with. There are only a few people ,who I know, that were perceived as lovingly as Savina is. I will miss her and I pray that she is in her heavenly home surrounded by more of her loved ones. I am thankful that she had a loving and supportive family and friends to comfort her on her final journey.

"Miss" Savina was one if the loveliest ladies I ever met. Beautiful inside and out. Everything said is absolutely true. It was my pleasure to take "Miss" Savina, Mrs Joan Watkins, Laura & Virginia to Amite's Christmas Musical. We came back to "Miss" Savina's where we enjoyed her Christmas goodies. All of them together in Heaven this Christmas. She was happiest to see Jesus, the Blessed Mother and of course her sweetheart. Your mother was special in every way and my brother Alan and I are deeply saddened to learn of her passing but celebrate her life with all of you children, greats and grands. You all are blessed to call her Mother
