Shannon Gary Hone passed away on November 15, 2025 of a heart attack. Shannon was born on 1/29/1970 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Shannon is survived by a son, Brandon Gary Hone of Baltimore, a sister, Bernadette Jimerson of Gainesville, GA, a brother Steven David Hone and a sister-in-law Michele Hone of Pittsburg, TX, also a nephew, Spencer Lucas Stover, Shannon is predeceased by his parents, Gary and Dolores Hone.
As a child, Shannon spent his time playing in the creeks with friends and his brother, Steve. He enjoyed the freedom that came from living in the mountains. He spent many hours picking blackberries and selling them for folks to make jams and jellies. His fingers would be stained all summer, his hands covered with sores from the thorns, and a bad case of chiggers. But he went about it cheerfully with a gallon milk jug tied around his waist. As he got older, he was always looking for ways to help people. He looked after the local widows taking care of odd jobs.
Shannon lived a troubled life due to mental illness. Despite his struggles, he was always kind, generous, and had a big heart. Those qualities remained up until the end of his life. He never met a stranger. He was loved and we are deeply saddened by his loss.
We will have a service for Shannon in the Spring. He will be buried with our parents at Meadow View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone in Shannon's name.
Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the family guest book and send condolences online at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com

Steve and Bernie. So sorry to read this news about Shannon.
I had recently been talking to him about once a week or so. And yes he was trying to help someone in need. He and I always had a good relationship. Again my heart felt condolences.
