Sheri Mummau Obituary

Graveside rites for Sheri K. Bramhall Mummau, 78, will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma with Pastor Tony Randol officiating.

Sheri Bramhall Mummau danced her way into heaven on February 18, 2024, after almost 79 years. She was met by her parents, Edward Bramhall and Lois “Boot” Harris Bramhall, and her son, Wade Creekmore III. She had missed her momma and Lil Wade dearly.

Her brother, Jacob Bramhall, and her children Patrick Cook, Kim Johnson, and Nikki Rogers will watch over her grandchildren in her absence: Weston Johnson and fiancé Kimberly, Dylan Metheny and fiancé Taylor, Malia Metheny, Katy Cook and great granddaughter Keiley. Family traditions will continue, and many blessings are to come. Our small family is growing, and we know that she will be watching and rejoicing from above.

Sheri worked at Southwest Eye Clinic in Oklahoma City for many years. When she was in her forties, she decided to take a leap of faith and went back to college. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from USAO in Chickasha, OK. Shout out to Kapi for help on all those papers! Sheri went on to teach 5th and 6th grades at different schools.  Then she found her true passion. She taught GED classes with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. At the time of her retirement, she had the highest graduation rate of any other GED educator in the state.  Her favorite post was teaching at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center. Her girls loved “Ms. Cook.” She made sure they graduated and were celebrated. She found caps and gowns for them to wear in the graduation photo she took of them. She wanted her girls to be able to share this accomplishment with their families.

Sheri married Reist Mummau 14 years ago. They moved to Wynnewood, OK. She enjoyed riding in the cattle truck with him or sitting outside and watching the beautiful sunsets.

Her children are very grateful to Reist for being her companion. When it was time for their mother to go to a nursing home, he came by every day to bring her a cinnamon roll. He loved her and showed her through his actions.

We would also like to thank Buford Manor Nursing Home. The staff cared for our mother lovingly the past two years, even making sure she had beautiful painted nails. They were also a wonderful source of support to the family during her final days.

Now to the good stuff….!

Sheri was a majorette at Gainesville (Texas) and El Reno (Oklahoma) high schools. She even twirled fire batons! She tried very hard to teach her daughters to twirl a baton like her and her mother. Needless to say, it didn’t work.

Sheri loved to dance; two-stepping, shuffle, west coast swing, or any other dance she learned along the way. She would be on the dance floor the entire night.

She loved riding horses. Any time that she could ride, she would.

She absolutely loved being on the porch with friends and family, laughing, telling stories, and listening to music. On a hot summer day, she would take the water hose and wet down the porch “to cool it off.” And it worked! There would always be plenty of chairs for anyone to stop by. Our favorite was her “Wednesday Night Church Service.”

Sheri loved rocks. She would stop randomly in her truck to look for them to decorate her yard.

She could not cook but didn't realize it. Her microwaved pancakes were legendary. Her specialty was her “homemade potato salad.” Recipe: Store bought potato salad put into a dish with paprika sprinkled on top.

Her family requests that if you want to honor their mom, then take a spin on the dance floor or saddle up a horse and take a long ride. Most importantly, go sit on the porch with an ice cold drink and watch a beautiful Oklahoma sunset with your people.
