Shirley A. Kolp (86 years old) passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Good
Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, FL after battling an illness with multiple myeloma.
She was born November 19, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN.
Her parents were William B. & Julia F. (Epperson) Mathews; both preceded her in
death.
She was married to Jimmy A. Kolp in 1966; they would have celebrated 59 years
together this November. She had 4 children, Gregory (Jean) Kolp of Whitestown, IN;
Bradley Kolp of Sebring, FL; Madonna (Kenny) Bell of Indianapolis, IN; and William
(Cheryl) Kolp of Lebanon, IN.
Grandchildren included Jill (Jeremy) Sherwood of Cicero, IN; Dustin (Enza) Kolp of
Lebanon, IN; Amber (Matt) Turner of West Lafayette, IN; and William Kolp of Lebanon,
IN.
She also left behind 8 great-grandchildren and each one of them were very special to
her!
A brother, Ronald Mathews also preceded her in death.
She was a high school graduate. Primarily held jobs in the business office/accounting
department, and retired from H.P. Products in Indianapolis prior to moving to Sebring,
FL.
She was active in Job’s Daughters, and Good Sams Club. She also served on the
Board of Directors for Boy Scout Troup #753 in Thorntown, IN and was a “mother” to so
many of the members.
Her favorite things included her family (of course!), collecting hummingbirds, angels,
willow trees, palm trees, rocks, and she loved exploring the meaning behind Indian
dresses. She also loved chihuahuas, and she had wonderful memories of her dog,
Frito. She also grew to love her grand-dog, Wrigley and enjoyed her visits with her.
Per Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Her cremation has been entrusted to
Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Crematory in Sebring. Burial will take place later
in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, IN.
The family would like to thank Patient First Home Care and Good Shepherd Hospice for
the amazing care and comfort they provided.
