Shirley S. Melton

1946 - 2021

Shirley S. Melton, age 74, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at her home near Piedmont. She was born December 19, 1946 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, the daughter of Luther Peppers and Georgia Lee Lawson.

Shirley was married to Donald Ray Melton October 10, 1961 and was a long time resident of Piedmont. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Temple.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Luther Peppers and Georgia Lee Waller and one brother, Jerry Peppers.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Don Melton, of the home, 2 sons, Larry Melton and his wife Kim, of Piedmont, Stanley Melton and his wife Sherri, of Piedmont, 3 brothers, L.S. Peppers, of Barnhart, Jimmy Waller, of Farmington, John Waller, of Piedmont, 3 sisters, Charlotte Boyer, of Arkansas, Sheila Walker, of Ellsinore, Nancy Gentles, of Patterson, and her sister in law, Peggy Degonia, of Piedmont.

Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Jenna Settle and her husband Brandon, Jed Melton and his wife Justine, Casey Melton and his wife Jamie; 8 great grandchildren, Damin, Lucas, Conner, Travis, Taylor, Madden, Halleigh and Mason, along with many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation was held at 11 AM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Piedmont. Funeral services followed at 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scott Miller officiating. Special recorded songs were played for the service and Jed Melton, Casey Melton, Brandon Settle, Johnnie Blankenship, Dalton Blankenship, Tony Jolly and Derek Peppers served as Pall Bearers.

Interment was in the Green Hill Cemetery.
