STURK, Shirley M. - Of Grand Blanc, age 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 18, 2023 at her daughter's residence.

Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,

Pastor Steve Wood officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation 5-7pm Monday and 10am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on April 12, 1931 the daughter of the late Henry and Lydia Smeja. She was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone where she met Raymond Sturk. Shirley married Raymond Sturk on February 10, 1951 in Swartz Creek. She volunteered for Grand Blanc schools in the concession stands for various sports activities for nearly 30 years. Shirley was very meticulous about her yard and enjoyed gardening and mowing in her younger years. Shirley loved feeding her grand dogs ice cream and animal crackers and even taught them to eat from a fork and a spoon.

Surviving are daughters, Rene' Sturk and Pat Hopps;

beloved grand dogs, Nikki and Abby, who she adored;

sisters, Irene Hovanec and Theresa Spurrier;

and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, daughter-in-law, Phyllis Covey, brother, Alfred Smeja and sister, Joann Loynes.
