Sidney's Obituary

Sidney Frank Rodgers Jr. (“Dandy Boy”), age 77, of Davison, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at McLaren–Lapeer, with his family by his side. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time.

Sidney was born on October 16, 1948, in Honolulu, Hawaii, son of the late Sidney Frank Rodgers Sr. and Crispina Tan (Dicho) Rodgers both of Hawaii. He married Anna Mae Atkins on July 13, 1968, in Flint, Michigan. They made their home in Davison, where they raised their three daughters and shared a lifetime together. Sidney enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including fishing, hunting, golfing, cooking, singing, playing guitar, and spending time with his family. He was well known for being an exceptional cook and hosting memorable gatherings at his home. He expressed his love in the kitchen by creating recipes and recreating Asian cuisines from his childhood. He often shared cherished memories of his early years, including singing alongside his mother while she played the piano and swimming in their pool on early mornings before school when they lived in Arizona. He carried these early experiences into the values of support and tradition that he instilled in his children. Sidney cherished his family and prioritized traditions that remained consistent for many years. His traditions continue to live on through generations, passed down from his children to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was important for Sidney to share his culture with his family and did so by traveling to Hawaii to reconnect with extended family. Sidney had a successful career in retail, including over 30 years as a District Manager with the Kmart Corporation before retiring. He continued working post-retirement at Home Depot for several more years. Sidney valued his leadership roles throughout his career, where he was described as caring and supportive by his staff. He took pride in mentoring, motivating and sharing his wisdom with those around him.

Sidney is survived by his wife, Anna; daughters Darilyn (Allen Milostan), Dana Rodgers-Mims, and Christina (Kevin Brady); grandchildren Samantha (Jon), Emily (Bobby), Nick, Tyler(Sydney), Christopher, Alisabeth, Cody, Malia, and Jaxon; and great-grandchildren Maverick, Laiken, and Lydia; cherished in-laws Melvin (Arlene) Atkins, Raymond (Shirley) Atkins, Vivian(Ralph) Hodges, Betty (Michael) Hodges, Janice (Ron) Chandler, and special recognition to his “best buddy” Gene (Trina) Atkins. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Billaber, as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Shirley, Arlene, Beverly, and Ronald. Please feel free to share your condolences and memories at HansenFuneralHome.net
