Stanley Lee Blundell, 78, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on December 14th, 2022. Stanley was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, on January 22, 1944, to Hester and Peggy (Huffman) Blundell. Stanley was a 1962 graduate of Healdton High School, excelling in football, baseball, and track. He served in the US Army National Guard for 7 years, 6 months active (1962-1969). On April 4, 1969, he married Kathy Susan McCreight. He started his work in the oil field with his father while in high school. In 1968 he went to work for Texaco. While working for Texaco, he worked his way up from a roustabout to a Production Superintendent with stops in Lone Grove, OK, McLeansboro and Salem, IL, then Hominy, OK, before finally settling in Kingfisher, OK in 1979. In 1982 he went to work for Woods Petroleum, which changed hands to Sunshine Mining & Sonat. He retired early from Sonat and quickly went to work for EOG Resources until final retirement on January 11, 2011. Along the way, he earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University in 1991. He loved to hunt and fish with his sons, relatives, and friends. He was also a lover of animals, even at one point attempting to ride bulls. Throughout his life, he spent a lot of time doing ranch work with his relatives in southern Oklahoma. After retirement, he began his own horse operation. He loved sports and while his kids were growing up, he was active in organizing the Kingfisher little league baseball and soccer leagues and KHS All-Sports. Most recently, he volunteered working for the Kingfisher Baseball concession stand, where he was beloved by many current and former Yellowjackets.He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sisters Mary Helen Head of Longview, TX and Jayne Reid (Bobby) of Ringling, OK; son Stan Blundell (Misty) of Kingfisher, OK, son Steven Blundell (Cathy) of Houston, TX; granddaughter Lyndsey Anderson (Ryan) of Houston, TX, Blake Hopson of Healdton, OK, grandson Rhett Blundell (Natalie) of Clinton, OK, grandson Dylan Blundell (Tiffany) of Kingfisher, OK, granddaughter Allie Carter (Weston) of Kingfisher, OK, grandsons Christopher Blundell and Jaxson Blundell of Houston, TX, Isaac Fernandez of Houston, TX; great grandsons Logan Anderson, Lincoln Blundell, Luke Blundell, and Mattox Blundell, and great granddaughters Layla and Emma Rocke, and Avery Carter. He is preceded in death by his father Hester Blundell, mother Peggy Blundell, and daughter Leesa Fernandez.Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Kingfisher Christian Church. Public visitation will be from 8:00AM-5:00 PM at Sanders Funeral Service on Monday, December 19, 2022.
