Stanley Herrera entered this world on August 21, 1952, and left it on March 24, 2026 surrounded by the love of the family he cherished so deeply.
Stanley is survived by his devoted wife, Ruth E. Herrera, sons, David Bierman (Adelina) and Christopher Herrera (Kristin), beloved grandchildren Korey Bierman, Kyle Bierman, Christopher Herrera, Kali Herrera, Kaycee Herrera, and Caden Herrera, siblings Oscar Herrera, Jr., Rose Cantu, Debbie Garcia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Rosa Herrera, his sister Doris J. Perez, and his brother Theodore Herrera.
Stanley grew up in Hondo, Texas, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. Shortly after graduating, he answered the call to serve his country, dedicating himself to the United States Air Force from November 1971 until December 1993. Upon retiring from military service, he continued his commitment to serving others through his work with the U.S. Postal Service and the Department of Defense Education Activity. Throughout his careers, Stanley made many lifelong friends whom he cared about deeply.
In 1978, Stanley accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized into the Christian faith. His walk with God was sincere and steadfast. If you asked Stanley to pray for you, he didn’t take it lightly—he prayed earnestly, fervently, and with a heart full of faith. His relationship with the Lord shaped every part of his life.
Stanley loved the simple things in life—tending to his yard, a good game of cards, the joy of fresh pecans, feeding others with a good homecooked meal, and especially, time spent doting on his family. He loved his time as a PawPaw to his “grandbabies,” and above all else, Stanley treasured the companionship of his wife, Ruth, whom he adored throughout their 51 years together.
Stanley was loved deeply and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family forever; they take comfort in knowing he is at peace and has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord he dutifully trusted.
