Not sure what to say?

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

First of all - to the family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of a young teen-age and even pre-teen Stephanie coming into the kitchen at church and wanting to "help me" with whatever I was doing. She and little Amy always wanted to help. And I welcomed their help - such sweet girls. I know she will be missed so much. Prayers to the family

Offering our deepest sympathy during this difficult time.

Stephanie's Obituary

Stephanie Lynn Matthews-Short of Blanchard, gained her wings and went to be with her Lord and Savior after three courageous battles with ovarian cancer, on March 12, 2025 at her home.  The daughter of Gary and Barbara (Holybee) Matthews, Stephanie was born on April 24, 1986, in Oklahoma City.

Stephanie grew up in the Bridge Creek area and was a 2004 graduate of Bridge Creek High School.  She also attended Mid America Technology Center which is where she met the love of her life, Eric Short.  They began dating in High School in 2002 and married on July 3, 2008, in Purcell.  Stephanie later went on to get her nursing degree as an LPN because she loved taking care of people.  She worked at several different medical facilities, the last one being at Dr. Meagan Meyer-Hanner’s office in Newcastle.  Stephanie owned and operated Rustic Sunflower Barn Boutique in Purcell designing all kinds of crafts specializing in custom tumblers.  She chose to close the shop after a short time of opening, to take care of her dad.

Stephanie enjoyed planning family events and did not have a problem taking the lead.  She was strict but extremely loving.  Stephanie was very family-oriented and loved spending time with her family.  She would do anything for anyone.   She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her grandpa and grandma Matthews, and grandpa and grandma Holybee. Her first battle with ovarian cancer began in 2019 with the loss of her baby, whom she named Angel Baby.  Stephanie knew that God sent her baby to give her longer life to spend with her family, and now she is reunited with Angel Baby and fur baby, Maddie Mae in Heaven.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, Eric Short; son, Landon Short; daughter, Kenzie Short; parents, Gary and Barbara Matthews; parents-in-law, Benny and Debra Short; sister, Crystal Smith, and children Dylan, Ty and Kylee Smith; sister in law, Angela Farley and fiancé Dallas McLemore, and children, Kaitlyn Bowen and husband Brandon, Tyler and Hayden Farley; special cousin, Tony Smith and his son Trey in which she held an important role in his life; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.  Burial will follow at the Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard, Oklahoma.  Arrangements were under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard.  Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
