Susan Skemp Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Skemp, 76, passed away on August 10, 2024, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Born on September 27, 1947, in Dubuque, Iowa, she was a beacon of kindness and warmth throughout her life.

Susan was known for her caring and giving nature, always ready with a big smile, a bubbly laugh and the best hugs. Her commitment to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, especially when it came to family reunions and gatherings. She was one of the first to arrive and last to leave and always made arrangements to bring her favorite snack, fresh cheese curds. She found joy in her hobbies, which included an impressive cat collection, listening to BJ Thomas, spending quality time with family, and traveling to new and familiar places. She loved meeting and connecting with new people and rarely forgot a face.

She leaves behind a loving family: brothers Sam (Julie) Skemp and Kevin (Kathi) Skemp; sister, Lisa (Tim) Thornton; sisters-in-law Gail Skemp and Doris Skemp; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Maxine (Droessler) Skemp, brothers Alann and Terry Skemp, and sister-in-law Cindy Skemp.

Susan's warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her spirit and legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Arrangements are being handled by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, Onalaska, Wisconsin 54650.

Our family is very sorry for your lost. I enjoyed meeting her and talking with her at Thanksgiving dinners at Sam and Julie's house.

I worked with Susan at Holy Cross Diocesan Center for 10+ years and also consulted her when I was the DRE at my parish prior to my mission at HCDC. She was very loving and caring person who I NEVER saw sad or down. Her smile was very contagious and she cared so much for her work and other people. Heaven is very blessed to have her amongst the angels and saints. She will be greatly missed.

Our deepest sympathy to Lisa and her family as well as the rest of the Skemp family. Lisa was a constant supporter of Max and the rest of the kids in Grand Central Station Show Choir. Loved her enthusiasm for all of the events. Rest in peace Susan. From the Boldon Family

So sorry Sam, Kevin, and Lisa as well as extended family. I have fond memories of the times I spent with Susan. We'd meet for lunch on occasions and she was always so kind. Once I left the area, I aways enjoyed your family pictures on Facebook. Susan was always smiling.

She will be very missed by my Mother, Rosie. They had many years of friendship that will continue to give her great memories of the trips they took, times they spent together and all the phone calls they made. Sue will live on in her heart and memory forever.❤ I am also grateful for the friendship they shared all these years.
