Tammy Anderson-Lightning Obituary

Tammy Anderson-Lightning, 60, of Maskwacis, Alberta, Canada, and the Spirit Lake Nation, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025 in Canada.  Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michael, ND, with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating. Burial will be at the Double M Ranch Family Cemetery in rural St. Michael, ND.


A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the St. Michael Tech Center starting at 5:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM.  The Procession will leave from the City Plaza Parking Lot at 4:30 PM on Thursday afternoon to the St. Michael Tech Center.


Active Pall Bearers: Darrick Ami, David Wee, Val Merrick, Kyle Redfox, Barry Demarrias, Anthony Touch “Sonny”, Tayden Reierson, Tribal Ami and Avery Thompson.


Honorary Casket Bearers: the Walking Eagle family, the BlueShield family, the Littlewind family, the Thomas family, the Brown family, the Green family, the Gourd family, the Chaske family and Catherine Howard.


Tammy enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also loved to go to the casino and play bingo. In her younger years she loved horses and dancing fancy at pow-wows all around the country. In the summer of 1983 she met the love of her life, Elston and later moved to Canada. Where she married Elston and they started their family.


Tammy is survived by her loving children, Shane, Devon (Tiana), Valerie (Brett), Brandon, Jaylene, Aaron and Tania; grandchildren, Hayleigh, Brayden, Evander, Kalon, Tristo, London, Drayvin, Lucis and Avery; siblings, Greg, Jay, Joy (Davey) Candice; in-laws, Willy (Laureen), Sharon, Lorraine, Gerald, Caroline (Leo), Gloria, Leon (Melissa), Chester Gardypie, Ron Rosebluff, Brenda Lightning, Emma Lightning, Michelle Mackinaw, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.


Tammy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Elston Lightning; grandson, Baby Jax Lightning; parents, Marvin and Marlene Anderson; brothers, Marvin Jr., Gary and Matt; sister, Valerie Merrick; in-laws, Martin and Marie Lightning; brother-in-law, Walter, Martin, Larry and Peter; sisters-in-law, Rosalyn, Angela, and Sandra.

I remember I and my mom Maxine Foss would go visit my Uncle Marvin and I was like 6 or 7 and Tammy would be jamming out in her room to Bette Davis Eyes lol. That's the first time I ever heard that song and I loved it ever since. Have a blessed journey cousin and say Hi to Uncle Marvin, Jr, and your Mom and my Mom for me...
