Terrance Kevin (Terry) Barry, 67, of Homewood, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 14, 2024 at Ingall’s Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 6, 1956, he was the son of the late George and Pauline (nee Turner) Barry. As an infant in a laundry basket, Terry moved with his parents and three older brothers from the city to Country Club Hills, Illinois in 1957. Terry’s school years were spent in Country Club Hills, and he graduated from Southwood Elementary School and Hillcrest High School. Thereafter, he lived his entire adult life in the surrounding south suburban communities.
Terry’s life work was driving large 18-wheel semi-trailer trucks. His expertise and skills covered the entire gamut of truck driving from over the road long haul trucking to in-traffic dock deliveries in congested urban traffic environments. In the later years of his carreer, Terry was recognized by his employer Estes Express Lines with the highly coveted Million Mile Driver award. Terry enjoyed his work and never voluntarily retired from truck driving. However, he was finally sidelined by his illness at Thanksgiving 2022. With the support of his very close sibling group and wonderful doctors, Terry fought courageouslyfor fifteen months against the neuro-endocrine cancer that eventually took his life
Terry was a loving father to Terry Jr. (Mercedes) and Bridget Krause (Brandyn). Loving grandfather to Layla and Huxley Barry, and Isabelle Krause. Loving brother to George (Jill) Barry, Jr., Michael Barry,
Jimmy Barry, Michele Barry and Maureen (Tom) Kuntz. Terry is also survived by Deborah Framarin, his very dear friend of many years. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
