Terry James Verret
Terry James Verret, a lifelong resident of Louisiana, passed away on November 13, 2025, in Westwego, Louisiana, at the age of 64. Born on December 31, 1960, in New Orleans, Terry lived a life filled with love, loyalty, and a deep devotion to the people he cherished. From an early age, Terry embraced a wide range of interests-from playing the drums and exploring CB radios in his youth to discovering his passion for cooking and baking as he grew older. He especially enjoyed creating cakes and pastries for family and friends, offering his time and talents in the most heartfelt way. In his twenties, Terry met and married Gloria Gavin, with whom he shared more than 20 years of marriage until her passing in January 2014. Their life together was marked by mutual love, dedication, and countless treasured memories. Terry later began a new career in the maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment at West Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He took considerable pride in his work and formed lasting friendships with many of his colleagues. During this chapter of his life, he met his devoted life partner, Ceola Blakes. Together, they shared a bond rooted in companionship and joy, filling their days with travel, fishing, movies, and cooking, and always delighting in time spent with their families.Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Theresa Verret; his beloved wife, Gloria G. Verret; his sister, Andria V. Chamberlain; his niece, Brandy Herron; and his nephew, Patrick Herron. He leaves behind his loving partner and faithful companion, Ceola Blakes, who was devoted to him and remained by his side. He is also survived by his sister, Ethel V. Herron; his brother, Gary Verret (Margie); and his sister, Kathleen Verret. Terry was further blessed by the love of Ceola’s children and grandchildren: Melissa Weber, Jennifer Weber, Brigitte Tanner (Russell), Tahjynae Smothers, Tahj Weber, Kayla Tanner, Russell Tanner Jr., NaKhaia Tanner, Jailyn Weber, Jade Landry, and JaCari Landry. His memory will also be cherished by many dear friends and extended family members. Terry will be remembered for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and the unwavering kindness he offered so freely. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Family and friends as well as his colleagues at West Jefferson Memorial Hospital, are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip St., New Orleans, LA, with Fr.
