Theresa Honis

Theresa B. Honis, age 95, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday September 13, 2022, at O’Neill Healthcare of North Ridgevilleand was surrounded by her loving family.

Theresa was born February 27, 1927 in Elyria.  She was originally a member of Holy Cross Church, and then attended St. Mary’s Church in Elyria. Theresa worked various jobs. Theresa loved polka music and dancing; she was an Honorary member of the United Polish Club. Early in her marriage she enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband, Steve. Theresa enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping and working on puzzles, but above all she loved spending time with family. Theresa loved to decorate for the holidays.  Her favorite time of the year was Christmas.

Theresa is survived by her children, Cynthia Runyon, Mark Honis, Kevin Honis, and Tamie Lopez (Jose), all of Elyria; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 70 wonderful years, Steve E. Honis, and son, Greg Honis, both in 2019; one brother and two sisters; and her parents, Mike and Bertha (nee Plato) Kordeleski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 320 Middle Ave, Elyria, with the Reverend Charles Dietrich officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elyria.
