Thomas Tynan Obituary
Thomas is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Susan L. (Witkowski) Tynan; two sons, Thomas N. and Daniel J. Tynan; a daughter, Keri L. Tynan all of Worcester; his mother-in-law, Maxine Lindgren of Worcester; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Auger and her husband David, Donna Kirkos and her companion Bob Strozina all of Worcester and Paula Baronowski of Pinellas Park, FL; a brother-in-law, Paul Witkowski of Boston; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; two dogs, Tyson and Dempsey and a cat, Bella. He is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Dupont.
Thomas was born in Worcester, the son of the late James and Michelina (Avolizi) Tynan and has lived here all his life. He graduated from North High School in 1972 where he excelled in basketball. Thomas worked for Durham as a bus driver for three years. He previously worked for Wright Line as a mid-welder for fifteen years. He was a member of Saint John?s Church. Thomas not only enjoyed playing softball but was very dedicated and loved being a coach. He coached for many teams which include basketball for the Special Olympics as well as for Sacred Heart and St. Joseph?s, baseball for Tom Ash Little League and East Side Babe Ruth and also coached Worcester Flag Football. Thomas loved the ocean and being at the beach.
Services for Thomas will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint John?s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, February 22nd from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home. To the family, it never gets easy.. Butch is in everyone of you, but mostly in all the memories you have. I still work at the DCU Center ( not every night ) mostly the hockey games section 103. If you every make it to the DCU for anything, ask anyone in a green jacket if I'm working, I would love to meet you. He was one of the best friends anyone could have.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Coach Butch. He was a true inspiration to my son on his Special Olympics Basketball team (the Seven Hills Cougars). He not only taught the fundamentals of the game to our kids, but I learned a lot from him ae well. We will miss him, but always think of him with fond memories.

Tom was my bus driver in the afternoon. He always made me and my friends laugh on the way home. He was a great man with a comical attitude. His death was so unexpected and bus 25 will surely miss him. RIP Thomas Tynan

To the family my prayers are with you. i knew butchie when we were teenagers. he use to come over to 168 chandler st with Marvin Stafford all the time to hang out.i remember one time a bunch of us went to Whelom Park. i don't get on ferris wheels to this day because of him and Alfred Johnson.Then we went to North together,he was a friend and a very good person and saw the good in everyone.as decades went by i would run into him every now and then at the DCU center,were i work part time. we just had our 40th high school reunion, thought i would see him there, just to let you know he will always be remembered in my heart. RIP Butch.

Butch was a tremendously kind and wonderful soul. I cannot think of a time in my life when he wasn't laughing, smiling or joking.
