Thomas Wade Obituary

Home going celebration for Mr. Thomas Everret Wade who passed on March 7, 2023 will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, Tampa, Florida, Rev. Dr. Glenn Dames, Jr, Senior Pastor, Officiating.  Interment   will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.

Thomas Everret Wade was born on October 31, 1953 in Tampa Florida. He attended the schools in Hillsborough County. He had no kids, but he helped to raise all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins. Before his health started to decline, every Sunday he would get up, turn his radio on WTMP to listen to the gospel music, make his coffee, cook his breakfast, start his Sunday dinner, and he loved his T.V. and to watch his favorite  team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He never knew how to drive and you would often see him cruising on his bike going to work, the grocery store, the corner store and he loved his bike. If his bike was broke, sometimes he would walk, and he was a fast walker, you would almost have to run to keep up with those bo-legs. If he was out somewhere and someone made him mad, he would just walk home, no matter how far he had to walk, and he would not accept a ride. He was the cook in the family and would always cook more than enough to feed everyone, including friends, and strangers.  If you stopped by and you were hungry, he would feed you.

The holidays were his favorite because he would cook a big feast, and he would be up all night cooking and drinking his Natural Lite until the next morning, and he would be the first one to fall asleep before night fell. He would not let anyone help him in the kitchen, not even peel a potato, and everyone knew to stay out of the kitchen when he was cooking.. Thomas would hang out with his niece before she passed and they would go play cards all night until the next morning. He was the life of the party and told plenty jokes and he loved to have fun and loved his family. He once worked as the head Chef at the Omni Hotel and he later retired from Nutmeg.

Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Mae Wade; father, Thomas Wade; sisters, Rosalind Brown and Brenda Wade; niece, La-Shawn Brown; aunts, Doris Brown, Laurel Mackey and Irene Mitchell; cousins, Charlotte Brown-Hall; great nephews, Nicholaus Williams and James Nicholas.
