Tom Salvatore Curiale passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2020. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. followed by Visitation 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., KCMO 64124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., KCMO 64106. (Due to the pandemic, masks are required at Holy Rosary Church). Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Please omit flowers.
Tom was born on December 4, 1949, to Salvatore Sam Curiale and Anna Piacenza Mineo. He was raised in the North End by his paternal grandmother, Antonia Quarrato Curiale, whom he loved and called “Mama”. Tom attended Holy Rosary Grade School and graduated from Northeast High School. He was a member of Scout Troop 70 and earned the Hardway Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. After graduation he enlisted in the Army Reserves from 1968-1974, where he was a medic for the 325th General Hospital. Tom was a member of the Heat and Frost Insulators Local #27, where he worked in the field before entering the office. He was President of Insulation for AT Industries until he retired in 2013. He also worked part time for Cascone’s Restaurant and owned and operated Josie Ann’s Pub and Deli.
From an early age Tom loved music and singing with a group of lifelong friends who called themselves ‘The Elgents’. His one stop growing up was at the neighborhood drug store, Chee-Bay’s, and he always spoke of good times there and memories that were never forgotten. Fishing, golf, and entertaining were always special times for him. His door was always open. A devout Catholic, Tom was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for his entire life, where he served as an altar boy and was proud of having received all of his sacraments there. He was an active member of the men’s Holy Name of Jesus Society.
Tom dearly loved his children and was a devoted and loving Papa to his nine grandchildren, whom he adored. He was most happy spending time with them. He was so proud of his family and often said, “God has blessed me with them in my life”.
Tom was preceded in death by his grandmother, his parents, brother Jasper, sister-in-law Julia, mother-in-law Florence Bradley, and brother-in-law Johnny George. He is survived by his ‘Love’ and wife of 51 years, Joann Curiale; his loving daughters and their spouses whom he called ‘my sons’, Florene (Carl) Badami, Diana (Vince) Maggio, Jackie (Sal) Mormino; his nine beloved grandchildren, Charlene and Ciro Badami, Tony, Tommy, and Sammy Maggio, and Josie, Sammy, Rosie, and Lilly Mormino; nephew Sam Curiale; and nieces Grace Ann Curiale, Toni Ann Scimeca.
Pallbearers will be Tom’s five grandsons, nephew, and cousin Tom Bradley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Mancuso, Joe Digerlamo, Sal Paris, Sam Taibi, Leonard Pittala, John Caracci, Anthony Totta, Tom Mortallaro, Jimmy Bradley, and Chuck Bradley.
“May the cross that you have carried for the past 10 years be lifted from your shoulders. May God wrap His Arms around you. May you be at peace forever.”
We love you, Tom.

Dear Joann and girls
My heart aches for your loss. Tommy was one of my favorite people in the world, He always had a hug and a kiss for me and it was such a pleasure to see him. The two of you were such a wonderful example of what a marriage should be. You will have such blessed memories of your years together. And those beautiful girls are such a wonderful example of what kind of parents you are. I will remember you all in my prayers. God will keep his arms around all of you and give you the strength to get through these difficult days.
Love to all of you

My deepest condolences to Joann and the entire family. Tom was a year behind me at Holy Rosary and we both were members of Scout Troop 70. We all played sports at Don Bosco center and Tom was always a captain or one of the team leaders. Always smiling and laughing while spending our allowances at Cheebays. Rest In Peace

Tommy was a gentle man, even as a kid he was gentle and a man. (Aunt Annie would always dress him meticulously like a little man, hat and all.) He was soft spoken which is unusual in our family. Joann and all, I know you will miss him very much. Dan and I are holding you in our thoughts and prayers.
