Shirlee GilmanMay 9, 1938 - September 12, 2025Shirlee Gilman, age 87, of Madison, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society in Howard.A memorial visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Prairie Queen Cemetery, Nunda. Online guestbook is at www.rustandweilandfuneral.com.Shirlee Anna Renaas was born May 9, 1938 in Madison, SD, to Oscar & Martha (Johansen) Renaas. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1956. On November 25, 1956, she married Gary Gilman in Nunda, SD. They lived on a farm by Ramona, where she helped Gary and started their family. In 1962, Gary & Shirlee moved to a farm on the west side of Lake Herman, which still remains in the family to this day. Shirlee worked at various places in the Madison area, some of those were Bethel Lutheran Home for a few years, then she worked at May & Scofield and retired from the Madison Hospital where she worked as a housekeeper and then in the cafeteria. Shirlee's hobbies were her dogs, baking, sewing and spending time with her family.Shirlee is survived by her three sons, Lonny (Jolene) Gilman of Crooks, SD, Loren (Dawn) Gilman and Brian (Joan) Gilman both of Madison; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Sonya) Gilman, Travis Gilman (friend, Nicole Seezs), Holly (Brian) Winner, Melissa (Justin) Norris, Nikki (Andrew) Hanisch and Sara (Tyler) Nelson; ten great-grandchildren and several other family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two granddaughters, Heidi Hall and Brittany Gilman and sister, Barb Renaas.
