Dan and Susie,
I lived next door to your family in Kalamazoo circa 1975-1979. Danny and Susie, as I knew you then, were just young pups. I have thought fondly of your family over the years, and your mom crossed my mind just the other day. Ursula was kind to the young-hippie-mother who lived behind you, even if she did not completely "understand" her. I recall being invited over one Christmas to see Ursula's tree and it remains, to this day, the most breathtaking tree I have ever seen. The hand blown icicles come to mind whenever I think of that day. Elegant and unique are adjectives I would use to describe that tree; perhaps they could also be used to describe the person whose hand lovingly placed each lovely ornament, and who opened her door to a young girl so many years ago. Please accept my condolences for your loss. (Formerly Leslie Van Fleet)

Ursula was my best friend for 62 years, we went to High school together in Bremerhaven. All those years, we visited each others home, travelled with out children, and later, just us, at times with my husband. We hiked Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce together. Ursula did not gamble, but she enjoyed the mountains and sights of Las Vegas. I loved her like my sister, will have her in my heart until our souls meet again.

Prayers for Ursula's family. Losing your mother and grandmother is so hard. I met Ursula, many years ago, at the pool where we tried to exercise without getting our hair wet. I was entrusted the task of completing the quilting on a quilt that she must have put in many long hours of love. I just hope I can fulfill her wish to donate to a worthy person when it is done. Many fun memories. If we weren't exercising, we were eating.
