Vicki L. Chioles (nee Verastique) 65, was born May 5, 1959, in Libertyville, IL to Joyce (nee McLaughlin) and Geronimo Verastique. She was a lifelong resident of the Mundelein area (Diamond Lake and Ivanhoe).
Vicki worked in the food industry most of her life, starting as a teenager at Dog-N- Suds in Diamond Lake and then at her family’s business Gale Street Inn on Diamond Lake where she met Peter Chioles and later married on June 25, 1982. They both remained in the family business meeting and greeting customers that remained friends throughout the years.
Vicki was very involved in charity work, from the needy and homeless to helping at Fremont Township and at St. Mary’s of Fremont Church during the winter months at the warming shelter for the homeless and serving them a hot meal. She would make Easter baskets for the children at the women’s shelter as well as donating items to the women. She also took a trip to the Dominican Republic with books and school supplies for the underprivileged children.
She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her chickens, line dancing at the Sundance Saloon, enjoying country music, traveling near and far with family and friends, booking trips and assisting as a travel agent and attending Chicago Sporting events with Peter.
One of her finest qualities was being a “True Friend” to so many!
Vicki is survived by her husband Peter, sisters Yolanda (Chuck Bojniewicz) Jilpas, Kathy (Todd) Mitchell, Lori Verastique, Lisa Stefka and brother Jerry Verastique. Many nieces and nephews she was mentor to, Tiffany (Dino) Trakas, Jolynn (John) Gil, Greg (Lauren) Mitchell, Maureen (Kyle) Davenport, Austin (Ashley) Mitchell, Mike Jost, Nick Jost, Matt Jost, Samantha (Scott) Diedrich, Tara (Jeff Fell) Stefka and Frank Stefka. Auntie Vicki, you and I were so much alike from our style of clothes to our interests and love for country - I felt like I was your long-lost daughter. Your strength over the years was admirable, and just like that sign I got you says, "You don't know how Strong you are until being Strong is the only choice you have". These last four years were not easy, but with your positive, optimistic outlook, it kept you around for a lot longer. It's that true faith that I found inspiring. I know you'll be watching over us with the rest of our Guardian Angels, so please hug them for me, and I'll be waiting for a visit. xoxoxo Your oldest niece, Star

So sad to hear of Vickie's passing. She was a nice person who was always friendly and pleasant. She will truly be missed. She did so much and we didn't even realize how much she did helping others. We ate at Gale Street for years. First the original Gale Street and then the new one. Many good years spent there. You're now in your heavenly home helping there too. With Sympathy, The Parker's, Tim, Diane and Bob
