Violet "Vi" Mae Behanna, 77, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Friday, January 2, 2026, in the Jefferson Hospital. She was born March 22, 1948, in Charleroi, a daughter of Dale Jennings and Helen Mae Nardick Byrne.
Vi was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley. She was employed at the former Montgomery Ward in Charleroi and also worked for several years at the Fisher Heights Giant Eagle. Vi was a perfectionist, especially when it came to decorating her home or dressing to the nines. She was a caring and loving mom who always put her family before anything else. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling, especially on her Caribbean trips. She enjoyed bowling at the former Tan-O-Bell Lanes in Bentleyville and Sparetime Lanes in Monongahela. Vi was a lifetime member of the Valley Inn VFD Ladies auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory is her fiance', Larry Tomich with whom she shared the past sixteen years; her five children, Troy (Michelle) Harris of Fallowfield Township, Christine (Mark) Seese of Carroll Township, Shayne (Tracie) Hyatt of North Charleroi, twins, Jesse (Elizabeth) Hyatt of Monessen and Josh (Trisha) Hyatt of Carroll Township; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Hyatt, Sydney Seese, Hunter Hyatt, Cecilia Hyatt, Reid Hyatt, Amanda DiPiazza, Brandon Hyatt-Crosby; sister, Betty (Chris) Dannels of Tyron, North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas T. Hyatt and Harold "Pierre" Behanna; siblings, Velva Huffman, Alma Jericho, Samuel G. Byrne, Margaret DeAmbroggi, Helen Pelzer, Adele Schwer, Maria Burton, Charles Bob Byrne, Dale "Bud" Byrne, and Stanley Byrne.
Family and friends are invited to gather at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Valley Inn Social Hall, 34 Snyder Avenue, Monongahela where a Celebration of Life will begin at 11:30 AM. Inurnment will be private in the Monongahela Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Frye Funeral Home Inc.
