Celebrating the Life of Vivian G. Moran
Vivian G. Moran, lifelong resident of Manchester, NH, left us peacefully on December 14, 2025, with the love of family, and a few unfinished knitting projects.
Born June 6, 1937, to Oscar and Rachel (Guevin) Durand, Vivian quickly discovered two things: a passion for cooking and a knack for all things crafty. Her culinary adventures began early, fueled by a desire to enjoy good meals. If it could be baked, sewn, or knitted, Vivian mastered it with style. She graduated from St. George High School, Class of 1955.
Vivian’s love story with Conrad began when he saw her in the blue dress she made herself, while he was home on Army leave. After a whirlwind three-week courtship, they were engaged. Conrad returned from his overseas post six months later for the wedding and thus began Vivian’s career as an Army wife: six kids in eight years, nine moves, and multiple deployments for Conrad. Through it all, Vivian was the ultimate host, welcoming guests and friends from around the world and collecting stories (and recipes) from Germany, Europe, and even Ethiopia.
Once the kids were old enough to fend for themselves, Vivian poured her energy into a 17- year career as a tax preparer and office manager at H&R Block. She also did volunteer work at the USO in Germany and at both the VA and Elliot hospitals in Manchester.
Vivian loved playing bridge and lots of other card games, taking care of her grandchildren, and cheering at every family event she could attend. Vivian’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for all her home-cooked meals and every time someone shuffles a deck of cards.
She was married to her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Ret. Col. Conrad V. Moran. He died August 1, 2025. She was also predeceased by her brother, Oscar Durand.
She is survived by her sister, Elaine Lachance (and husband Bob), her six children, Elaine Ware and husband David, Michael Moran and wife Mary, Matthew Moran and wife Cathleen, Elizabeth Goonan and husband Michael, Erin Moran, and Elise Moran and husband James Carlo, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
