Wayne Paul Oehler was born on December 20, 1932 in Decorah, Iowa. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy, serving his active duty in California whereupon he resided for the majority of his life. He retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation after working as a Systems Integration Engineer for 37 years. He was also a pilot having built his own Europa plane from a set of blueprints and all of his ingenuity. He lived his last 4 and a half years in Kimberling City, MO, where he passed away on April 25, 2019. He is pre-deceased by his father Lloyd Oehler, his brother Nyle Oehler, his son, Lloyd Oehler, his mother, Louise Thompson, his stepfather, Malcom Thompson, and his nephew, Luke Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Oehler, his 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah & Bill Rucker, Kimberly & Carl Thompson, and Karen & Peter Veloz, his 6 grandchildren, Ashley Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Cole Veloz, Torrey Veloz, Olivia Veloz, and Owen Veloz, his great-granddaughter Violet Thompson, his 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, DuWayne & Nancy Oehler, David & Rosemary Thompson, Doug & Linda Thompson, and Greg & Peg Thompson, and his sister and brother-in-law, Cindy & Alan Miner.
Cremation was under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home Kimberling City, MO.
