Died Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at Vibrant Life Senior Living from complications of the Covid-19 Virus. He was born November 2, 1923, in Baxter, Tennessee, the son of Felix and Johnnie (Gibson) Alcorn. On February 9, 1946, he married Lillian Lorelle Lynn in Franklin, Kentucky , and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2020. Together they would have two daughters: Vada E. (Roy) Brewington and Lillian D. (John) Rose. He was employed for 31 years with General Motors (Hydra-matic plant) in Ypsilanti retiring in April 1982. During his years working at General Motors, Pastor Alcorn was also very involved in service to his Lord Jesus Christ. On February 6, 1971, he was ordained as a Deacon; became an Ordained Minister on February 5, 1983; and in 1988, became the Assistant Pastor of Community Free Will Baptist Church. For the next 25 years, he served at Community Free Will Baptist Church with his loving wife by his side, until his retirement on April 21, 2013. During that time he was involved in many church functions to include Bible School, Church fundraisers and the yearly garage sale where he especially loved eating the fried apple pies the ladies of the Church prepared. He was also a lifetime member of Phoenix Lodge F&AM #13 in Ypsilanti. He will always be remembered for his love of spending time with family, gardening, travelling, camping and baseball. Survivors besides his loving children include one sister, Helen Watts of Baxter, Tennessee; two brothers: Huston (Jean) Alcorn of Lambertville, Michigan and Jimmie (Nan) Alcorn of Culleoka, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Roy K. (Brenda) Brewington, Susan Mida, Raymond Short, John D. Rose , Jason (Jamie) Rose and Jeremy Rose; 13 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin Alcorn; two sisters: Alta (Webb) Halfacer and Virginia (Audy) Halfacer; one brother-in-law, Brownie Watts all from Tennessee. A Special Thank You to Vibrant Life Senior Living, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and Huron Valley Ambulance for all the care that was shown to William. MR. Alcorn was my first Sunday school teacher in 1955, in what was then the Free Will Baptist Church on East Grand Blvd. Ypsilanti Mich.He was a faithful Christian to the end. Alan P. Davis

Appreciate bro Bill and his wife very much. Thankful for help they provided when we were without a pastor at Belleville Free Will. Loved worshipping with them at our monthly service at Vibrant Life. Thank God for his faithfulness and testimony!

So sorry for your loss. Bro. Alcorn was a great man if God that I loved dearly. Heaven sure has gained another angel and I know that Sis. Alcorn is happy person today. May God give you comfort in your time of sorrow but it's only for a short while before we all will see Him again.

I have known Mr. Alcorn for years, I met him through my parents Denver & Hester Hunt. He was always such a nice and polite man and always had a smile on his face.
