Jim was a neighbor, classmate, and friend of mine when I was a child and teen in Detroit. His family’s home was directly behind ours and the Hawkins were such good neighbors. Jim was very popular as a preteen when he and friends started a band. His band performed for all the other kids from his garage. He was destined for greatness!!! I am sorry to hear that he passed away, but happy to hear that he continued to play guitar.

So sorry about your husband Cami. My husband is having his parinctsios at noon today, so there was no way I would of been able to make it. I'm planting a tree in his memory.
Remember though, the ones who leave us aren't truly gone. Your children are a living part of Jim and you can always find him in your heart and memories..

I, too, was a classmate with Jim, both at St. Suzanne School and Bishop Borgess High School; twelve years in total. From St. Suzanne, I usually walked home. Along that way Jim also walked home. Many times Jim, Jim Meloche and I walked together. Jim was always such a nice guy, easy going, and comfortable to be around. I have nothing but warm memories of that blond boy with his great smile. Offering prayers for Jim, his family, and all who loved him.

Jim was my childhood friend, and I have many good memories of the adventures we shared with my brother growing up in Detroit. He will be missed.

I met Jim at Great Lakes while we were going to school. Both from Detroit. Both fathers worked at Strohs. Both played guitar and drank beer. He was quick with his wit and could take a joke. Neither knew where the Navy would take us. I didn't know him long, but the time was memorable.
Full sails and following seas my friend.

I've known Jim since the first grade, and we graduated high school together. In between were years of sports, streetball, playing soldier...All the stuff buddies do as kids. I'll never forget him breaking away from a group at our 20 year reunion to bear hug "the guy he played so many wargames with". And in 1967, Jim at one guard, me at the other, opening up holes for the running backs of the St Suzanne Golden Hawks. So many memories, so many good times. Rest easy my friend. You will be missed.
