Bill’s Philosophy in Life was, “I can’t feel good until I make another person, student, feel
better.” If people, students, treated Bill unfairly, Bill always treated everyone kind. Bill
enjoyed his whole lifetime with us, no matter what we did. Bill never left a bad memory
with anyone, no matter how hard we tried. We meant everything to Bill. We are the
meaning of his life. Let gratefulness remember not the sadness in his passing but the
Goodness in his Heart. If Bill means anything to people he met to students he cared for,
please treat each other kindly. Thank you. “Elvis has left the building!”

I am sorry to learn of Coach Noun's passing. Bill was a Coach for the Oswego State football team in the 70's. He could be intense when required but most of the time he incorporated laughter and song into the process of creating good human beings that were empathetic yet willing to work hard as a team. Rest in Peace my friend and Thank you for being you! God Speed, until we meet again!

My condolences to the Noun family. I knew Bill from our days in St. Sophia’s choir. He was so kind and genuine. He always had his ukulele and he loved to entertain us at every choir gathering. May his memory be eternal.

Bill was a very kind and sincere person who cared about the success of his students in mathematics and life in general. He was always there for the kids way into his retired years.
Each holiday Bill would sing and play his ukelele at the end of the last class which raised a tear. He also emulated Elvis.
Bill smiled just like above!
Bill was an excellent teacher who made a difference, we need more Bills. He made me feel welcome and useful. I owe you another hug.
Sincerely, Kathi- friend and colleague.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Mr. Noun was a favorite teacher of mine. He had a way of making everyone's day better. He encouraged his students to the point that we got excited about Algebra! I loved the days he sang as well. Later in my life he was a Town Board member while I was the budget officer of the same. He was just as amazing in politics. He was always respectful and truly cared about his community. Just last year during the height of Covid he came to Rochester (near where I live) and entertained in the garage and driveway with his brothers for pandemic bound people. A truly great man that will be missed....

Always smiling and laughing, always singing, always caring and making people feel good about themselves and as if he were their lifelong friend.......Bill will SO be missed! He sang "The Hawaiian Wedding Song" in church at my wedding ceremony in 1973. It was a highlight of the event and Bill forever thanked me for giving him the opportunity to do that, since he told me it gave him even more confidence in performing before a crowd. He also honored my mother at her 90th birthday party by accepting my invitation to attend that event and serenade her.......(Of course he came dressed as Elvis with his ukulele and had us all singing along! ) He even, without being asked, once visited the nursing home my dad was at and put on a show for all the residents there at the time, many of whom actually thought he was the real "Elvis", so authentic were his renditions of Elvis' music! The mere thought of him or the mention of his name......Bill Noun.......will forever bring a smile to my face, a twinkle in my eye and fond and loving memories of a 'one-in-a-million' guy!!! I wanted to add to my wife Wendy's earlier post about Bill.
Coretta Scott King said "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members". With that as a measuring stick, it is easy to understand Bill's impact on our community. His compassion and caring has touched generations of students and their parents, that will be shared long after his passing. With Bill it was never a random act of kindness. It was the way he lived his life. He understood music brought us together and he knew the value of encouragement should never be underestimated. I feel fortunate to have known Bill and will always be grateful for the thoughtfulness he has shown my family.

Bill Noun was one in a million! I've never met a more positive, loving, accepting individual. Bill was always cheerful and went out of his way to make others happy! I rented an apartment from Bill for 2 years. We left when we purchased a home. Bill lent us his trailer and even physically helped us move. That was Bill in a nutshell. Instead of just being kind, BIll always went overboard to help EVERYONE. Years later when we had children, Bill would come out to our home and serenade them or take them for a ride on his scooter. There was no one else like him! Elvis, we are certainly going to miss your "blue suede shoes"!

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Bill. We extend our condolences & sympathy to the entire Noun family. Bill was one of the kindest individuals I have ever known & always had a kind word for everyone. Will miss the knock on the door in our Liverpool home on Sundays with the fresh Columbus bakery bread & the salami & olives from Lombardi’s that he would bring & that we would feast on . We had many good times together on & off the golf course . We will miss Bill very much.

I am sure you will hear the same comments about Mr. Noun over and over. He was an incredible person and teacher. I don't remember ever having been in his class but got to know him a little bit just by passing by his classroom door during class changes. I remember on occasion he would be stand in his class doorway, playing his ukulele and singing. I was in high school during 1978-1981. He made such an impression on me that I have told my wife and kids about Mr. Noun over the years. I have such respect for him. So sorry for your loss. I was excited to hear from another post that he accepted Christ as his Savior. It brought a smile to my face to know that someday I will see Mr. Noun again. I want to learn to play the ukulele so that we can sing together in Heaven.

In 1963 Mr. Noun was Mrs. (Connie) Bond's student teacher at the Campus School. How incredibly blessed we were to have to have these tremendous educators teamed up to sing to us, nurture our imaginations, validate us and instill the joy of learning. I remember him always, along with Mrs. Bond, as the two best teachers I ever had. Later in life, seeing him out and about, he was the same beaming personality. Warm and Happy. How many of us can say the say for ourselves. He truly was a light. From the bottom of my heart thank you, Mr Noun.

Dear Connie, Chris, Perry, and Noun family ~
Our prayers and thoughts are with you. May God comfort each of you. If you need anything, please reach out to us. We were blessed by Bill’s friendship.
We learned in the past year that Bill had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and his excitement about learning more about God was beautiful. Our last discussions with Bill were about his spiritual journey. We hope it comforts you that Bill knew exactly where he was going, and he is there right now in the arms of Jesus.
Bill touched many hearts through performing music, teaching, and his incredible benevolence. We loved him like family, and knew him as “Bill”, “Vasilios Nakas”, “Bagpipe Billy”, and “Elvis”. He was always there to help anybody who was in a jam. We have no doubt that God greeted him in heaven with “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”. The good Lord prepared a place for him (John 14:2). Bill’s kindness was an example for all of us. He was one of a kind.
We miss you Bill, but we will see you again! Until then, if you run into our folks in heaven, please greet them by singing a song and playing the ukulele, with your great smile. During your amazing life on Earth, you were a Class Act.
- Warmest regards, Dan & Katrina

What a joy and honor it has been to know Bill. He was an inspiration to me professionally and to the thousands of lives he touched. He was a good friend who could be counted on to show up, in full Elvis regalia, with very little advanced notice. He was a rare man and will be missed greatly.
