William “Bill” K. Peksenak

Age 65, of Portage, Indiana passed away on January 7, 2026, He was born on September 14, 1960, in Gary, Indiana to Karen (nee Wheeler) Wilfong and the late Charles Peksenak. Bill worked as a construction worker for many years, where he was known for his strong work ethics and dedication. Bill enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, moments truly cherished. He was a devoted son who took loving care of his mother. Bill loved capturing memories and was rarely without his phone, taking photos and videos to preserve special moments with those he loved. He also had a well-known sweet tooth, something that always brought a smile to those who knew him best. Bill  will be remembered for his hardworking nature, and his love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Wilfong; brother, Brian (Julie) Peksenak; niece Kristy (Garth); nephews, Robert (Dawn), Andrew, Matthew, Luke (Leah) and Josh and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Peksenak; brother, Robert Peksenak and stepfathers, Harold Ellis and Joe Wilfong.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Marquette Park United Methodist Church 215 N Grand Blvd, Gary, Indiana 46403 with Pastor Leah Peksenak officiating. A memorial visitation will also be held on January 14, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service also at Marquette Park United Methodist Church.  Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel are entrusted with Cremation.
