William Robbins, Jr. Obituary

Thy will be done! On Friday, April 25, 2025, William Edward Robbins, Jr., of Bel Air, MD, fought his final earthly battle at the UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. He now begins his new chapter with loved ones who passed before him, including his father, William Edward Robbins, Sr, and his parents-in-law Darwin and Doris Knechel. Rest assured he is preparing to greet us when our time comes.

William began his life on April 17th, 1962 in Waverly, Tioga County, NY. Born the eldest of three brothers, John “Jay” Robbins, of Sayre, PA, Randy Robbins and his wife Shelly, of Waverly, NY, and Scott Robbins and his wife Kimberly, of Wellsboro, PA. He was beloved by his late father Bill Robbins Sr and his mother Betty Rose (Perry) Blair and her husband David, of Waverly, NY.

Marrying the love of his life, Bonnie Sue (Knechel) Robbins, on May 7, 1988, Willie was a loving husband and father to his three daughters, Ashley Tucker and her husband Nicholas, of Railroad, PA, Stacey Lhotsky and her husband Jeffrey, of Essex, MD, and Heather McQuiller and her husband Matthew, of Levittown, PA. He adored his role as grandfather to three grandchildren, Elizabeth Mae Tucker, and Remi Faye McQuiller and Stenson Lee McQuiller.

A 1979 graduate of Christian Life Academy, Willie was always an avid learner. He was passionate about his studies, attaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Delaware Valley University, Doylestown, PA, in 1986. Earning his Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Golden Gate University in 1991, and going on to a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Old Dominion University in 1999.

He proudly served with the U. S. Navy from 1979 to 1993, retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer and serving on the U.S.S. Nassau as well as the U.S.S. Coral Sea before transferring to the U. S. Navy Reserves until his honorable discharge in 2007.

William was employed in tax services for the Bank of America, Baltimore, MD, for 31 years.  Being a well-known owner and operator of Robbins Financial Planning Tax Services for many years, William touched many lives through his work and was a fervent educator to guide others toward a better future.  He was a certified member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents since 1995.

Will always enjoyed helping others and being a faithful servant of God. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Bel Air, MD, where he served as Chairman of the Benevolence Committee for over 20 years and was a part of the Baptism Committee.

He was fond of his time working and volunteering at Harford Community College events. He treasured the time he spent with family, especially camping and attending shows at the American Music Theatre and Sight & Sound Theatre. He was a member of the NRA and the Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen’s Association.

I worked with William for 30 years at the Bank. I could not have known a nicer guy who was always willing to help out at any time. One of my favorite people to work with. I know he will be missed by all. My condolences to all of his family and many friends!

William - you were part of my life for the past 31 years, supporting me both professionally and personally. Your passing is a tremendous loss for your family, community and those you helped and supported with professional tax services. Catching up throughout the year was always something I looked forward to. May your next journey be blessed and filled with light and love; you will always be remembered. My sincerest condolences to the family and friends.

I was so, so sorry to learn of William's sudden passing. What a great life he lived - just too short. I am one of the very grateful residents at Glen Meadows Retirement Community who benefitted from his tax expertise and, even though we only met once a year, I will miss him very much. He made "doing taxes" a pleasure instead of a burden and I looked forward to our short visits and conversations as well as his knowledge and excellent work.
My thoughts and prayers will remain with his loving family as we carry on in the future.

I just today learned of William's passing and I am shocked. My heart goes out to his wonderful family, whom he spoke about with love and pride so often. He has prepared my taxes since I moved to Glen Meadows Retirement Community 12 years ago, and since that time he has helped so many other retirees here with their taxes. We all love him and so appreciated his coming to us and making the tax process so easy for us. I am sending love and prayers to his wonderful family at this sad time.

Chief, you are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The USS Nassau is now on station preparing for your final departure. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation’s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.

A mentor, A man of God and A man of wisdom! William never hesitated to drop nuggets of knowledge during our many conference calls on fiduciary tax. A soft spoken man but mighty in words, as well as a great tax accountant. Over the past five years, I've come to know and call on William whenever I needed direction/guidance on any tax related inquiry. He would always make himself available and probe with many clarifying questions (LOL) before providing options. I extend prayers of comfort and condolences to his family. Rest well William!
