Willie's Obituary

Willie James "Truck" Turner, Sr. entered this life on October 20, 1951, in Welch, Louisiana, to Verla Mae Prudhomme Turner and Abraham Turner, Jr.  Willie James was the firstborn son of the growing Turner family, then living in Kaplan, Louisiana. He was the best big brother to his siblings, Carol, Zola, Brenda, Paulita, Frank, Abraham, III, and Arnold, Sr.

Willie James was taught about the love of Jesus Christ and his salvation through his Baptist faith as a young man, and he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

"Truck" is his nickname, which he earned from his football days at Kaplan High School in Kaplan, Louisiana, and he has never met a stranger. His beautiful smile and infectious laugh would light up any room.

Willie met and "got his girl," the love of his life, Miss Diane Boudreaux. They married in November 1972 in Kaplan. The following year, in 1973, they became proud parents to their firstborn, Monica.

The opportunity presented itself for a better job at Gulf Oil Refinery for Willie. He and his family moved to Beaumont, Texas, where they grew from three to a beautiful family of eight to include in their family unit: Erin, Diana, Willie, Jr., Cory, and Ashley were born.

Willie and Diane were true soulmates who were married 31 years until his wife's passing in July 2004; Willie waited to be reunited with his sweet love, Diane, on the other side. They would have been celebrating 52 years of marriage in November 2024. Now, they will celebrate together with our Lord.

Willie James "Truck" Turner Sr. departed from this life on Friday, June 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane B. Turner; his granddaughter, Dominique Hamilton; his parents, Abraham, Jr. and Verla Mae Turner; and his brothers, Frank Prudhomme and Arnold Turner. And Brenda Turner, a sister who passed away on the same day as Willie's passing.

His children Monica Pier (Billy), Erin Turner, Diana Turner, Willie J. Turner Jr., Cory Turner (Keava), and Ashley Turner are left to cherish memories of him. Also left to cherish memories of Willie are his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Abraham Turner, Sr., Carol Mouton, Zola Turner, and Paulita Carter Ogbonna; one sister-in-love, Theresa Guidry; and a loving host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
