Not sure what to say?

My heartfelt sympathies to Myrna and family, especially to Randy & Sandra and their extended family. May you find comfort in all the memories you have of Wilmer.

We have many great memories of Wilmer during time spent building houses in Mexico and at El Refugio. Wilmer was fun to work and to fellowship with. You did not have to be around Wilmer long before you could sense his deep love for the girls at the orphanage.
Our condolences to Myrna and to all the of the family and to the girls at El Refugio who knew him as Grandpa

Balkie Island Campbell River. Reminds me of Wilmer and Randy's visit.

I have such fond memories of visiting Uncle Wilmer at his farm in Tofield. There was always lots of excitement getting into fun trouble shooting gophers, riding snowmobiles or launching rockets! What I remember most is Wilmer's great big heart and his inherent kindness, especially when he was happy for someone else enjoying the moment. One year the cousins and I got walkie-talkies for Christmas. Wilmer was so interested in hearing me explain how it worked and marvel that we could talk to each...

Wilmer's Obituary

Wilmer Huebert was born on March 15, 1939 on the family farm in Lindbrook, Alberta, to Henry and Katie Huebert. Wilmer was the oldest of 4 siblings; Rudy, Dennis and Brenda. He grew up on the farm, and as a young man worked on the family run feedmill in Tofield. Wilmer always worked extremely hard, doing anything he could to provide for his family.  Some examples include building cattle corrals using railway ties for posts and putting them in the ground by hand, trucking, and hauling loads of sand and shoveling coal by hand on and off the truck.   Wilmer married Myrna Wideman on June 22, 1962, his wife of 63 years.  Together they raised their two boys, Wally (Mary) and Randy (Sandra) on their family farm in Tofield, Alberta.  Wilmer was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Wilmer enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers alike, he always had a story to tell and always had a twinkle in his eye. Most importantly, Wilmer loved the Lord with all his heart. Wilmer and Myrna spent many winters in Mexico, volunteering at a girl’s orphanage, which they opened with Randy and Sandra. Wilmer quickly became the maintenance man as there always seemed to be something that needed to be fixed. He loved his time in Mexico, always pondering why things were done “this” way in Mexico and not in another way which would have been more logical. Wilmer and Myrna were known as grandma and grandpa to many girls over the years, often the only grandparents that some of the girls had. In 2018, Wilmer and Myrna moved from Tofield, Alberta to Canora, Saskatchewan where they were actively involved in Wally and Mary’s “Huebert Homestead.” Wilmer found himself busy building bird houses, enjoying train rides around the property, daily coffee time with family around the bonfire, and visiting with the many guests who came to visit the homestead. The family, with much appreciation, would like to thank the staff at Gateway Lodge for their dedicated care of Wilmer over these past months. Wilmer: husband, dad, grandpa and friend, will be greatly missed. Thank you for your legacy of love and faith that you have imprinted on our lives forever.
