Winifred DuPriest Obituary

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the National MS Society.

Winifred “Winnie” DuPriest, 80, of Parkland, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on November 11, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to parents Thomas and Winifred McDevitt, Winnie lived a life defined by devotion to family, quiet strength, and a beautiful smile that could brighten even the most ordinary day. As a child, she was happy and outgoing, a strong student, and an accomplished student-athlete who enjoyed cheerleading and field hockey. She went on to earn her master’s degree in education from the University of Buffalo.

Winnie had a lifelong love of cars and especially cherished her white Camaro convertible. She spent her career working in various sales roles, with her favorite being furniture sales, where her warmth and eye for detail truly shined.

Above all else, Winnie treasured her family and took great pride in her Irish heritage. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who never missed an opportunity to find the perfect gift for those she loved. Though she lived with a debilitating illness for more than thirty years, she faced it with remarkable grace—always smiling and answering “great” when asked how she was doing. Her thoughtful presence, resilience, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Winnie is survived by her husband, Bill DuPriest; her children, Winnie (Rick) Macheda and Jim (Anna) Parker; her stepchildren, Read (Joanna) DuPriest, Molly (Brian) Leatherland, and Elizabeth Huber (Larry Weinreb); and her cherished grandchildren, Jessica Macheda, Jacob Macheda, Emma Parker, Noah Parker, Avry Parker, Ava DuPriest, Brooke Huber, and Graham Leatherland. She is also survived by her siblings, Kathy (Kevin) McDevitt), Tom (Nancy) McDevitt, and Trish McDevitt. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis.

A service celebrating Winnie’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Boca Raton.
