Not sure what to say?

Jackie and family,

I'm saddened to hear of Chad's passing. He was always such a kind person to be around. I remember him helping my dad out and how much laughter that they shared together. He was such a good friend to him and others. Friendship and family always meant so much to Chad and it showed. May you all hold on to the beautiful memories and keep him close in your hearts. ❤ I'll be thinking of you all.

He was always helping someone in need.That was just the kind of guy he was .

Winton's Obituary

Winton “Chad” Chadwell was born on January 28, 1948 in Athens and passed away on November 18, 2025 at his home in Amesville surrounded by his family.

Winton was a true gentleman, always ready to lend a helping hand. He worked hard all his life and cherished his family and friends.  He had an amazing marriage with his wife, Jackie Kay Chadwell, who had been by his side since they first met.

Winton loved driving his tow truck and other trucks around, helping others, and meeting new and old friends. He also loved going to fairs and watching all the exciting events.  He had a passion for traveling and simply enjoying the company of people.  In his later years, Winton spent his days at home with his wife, kids, and grandchildren.  He will always remember the wonderful times he shared with everyone. He was a man who would give you his shirt off his back or his last dollar without hesitation.

Winton is preceded in death by his parents Ray & Lois Chadwell; his grandparents George & Lucille Clester; several aunts, uncles, and special friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Kay Chadwell, who was the best caretaker for him and his best friend; his siblings, Vern Chadwell, Jana Chapman and Brent Chadwell.  Also surviving are many children whom he loved very dearly, Jeff Chadwell, Brian Chadwell, Darin Chadwell, Betsy Chadwell, Justin Chadwell, Danielle Chadwell and many others; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, who were all very loved and special to him as well;

several nieces, nephews, and cousins; he also had a lot of friends including John Hawk, Sara Giffin, and Jimmy & Mary Varner.  He also had extra kids he claimed as his own, who will always hold a special place in his heart.

This isn’t a time for sadness. Let’s remember Winton and find another reason to be happy, laugh, and smile.  Though his smile and laughter may not be here anymore, he will always be in our hearts and on our minds. Just remember to cherish the days and laugh as much as possible with your loved ones.

Family and friends may call Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 7-9 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens.  Cremation will follow calling hours.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
