Mr. Yewell O. Helms, Sr., 75 of Rocky Mount, VA passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was born April 2, 1937 in Boones Mill, VA to the late Odell and Mamie Helms. He was affectionately call "Bro". He was employed by American Homes until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Mamie Helms, sons, Yewell, Jr. and Stefan Helms, two brohters, Ralph and Lloyd Helms, three nephews, Ray and Anthony Helms and Leonard Phelps, one niece, Zelda Phelps and one granddaughter, Tamekia Helms.

He leaves to cherish his memory Edith Helms, his children, Lamar (Crystal) John (Betty), April, Coral, Steve Helms and Vanessia Smith, sisters, Lois, Helms, Dorothy Walton, Virginia Bonds all of Roanoke, Sylvia Helms and Lottie (Leonard) Phelps of Maryland, one brother, Floyd (Peggy) Helms of Roanoke, 15 grandkids, Shaun, Steve Jr., Tony, Thomas Jr., JaShau, Ivan, Nicollette, Aaron, Daryl, Delaughn, Justin, DeAndre, Sierra, Chris, Whitney, 13 great grandkids, and a special friends, James Menefee, and Jermaine Day, a host of nieces, nephews and other special friends
