Randy Willrich Obituary

Randy Joseph Willrich Grass Lake Formerly of Matlacha Island, FL and Ann Arbor, MI Age 55, died peacefully Monday, December 3, 2012 at his home in Grass Lake. He was born March 28, 1957 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Herbert and Donna J. (Weible) Willrich. Randy was a care-free, happy spirit with a great sense of humor. He was self-employed his entire life, and particularly enjoyed shrimping in the Ft. Myers, Florida area. He was very loving, especially to his nieces and nephews. He never put himself before others. Although he enjoyed being with other people, he was content to be by himself, and enjoyed the serenity of the Gulf of Mexico and the mountains of the West. One of his favorite memories was from when he was young and would escape to go fishing by himself, where he would find "time to think". Survivors include his mother of Battle Creek; three sisters, Juanita Cain of LaFayette, Indiana, Julia (Erik) Jensen of Grass Lake, and Karen (Craig) Griffin of Battle Creek; as well as 3 nieces and 3 nephews; and 3 great nieces and 5 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his life-time love, Lucy Hodges. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Huron Valley Humane Society or Arbor Hospice. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel.

Randy was a great guy and I enjoyed his stories of Ann Arbor and his common sense approach to carpentry, gardening, and of course fishing. He wasn't afraid to tell it like it is and he had a great ability to read people. Next time I eat at the Brown Jug I will think of him. Praying for the family.
