Ilene M. Ellerthorpe
Battle Creek
Ilene M. Ellerthorpe, age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Clare Bridge of Battle Creek. She was born March 21, 1923 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Nathan and Rhoda (Brown) Luce. Mrs. Ellerthorpe graduated from Lakeview High School in 1941 and went on to work for the Kellogg Company for 27 years. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, camping, traveling and was an expert at tatting.
On January 31, 1942 Ilene was married to William C. Ellerthorpe who preceded her in death on February 6, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son, William C. Ellerthorpe Jr. on March 9, 2010, sister, Thelma Luce Simmons and brother, Ernest Luce. Mrs. Ellerthorpe is survived by her daughter-in-law: Geraldine Ellerthorpe; three grandsons: Scott Ellerthorpe, Shawn (Kimberly) Ellerthorpe and Shane Ellerthorpe; one granddaughter: Kerri (David) Lichty; six great-grandchildren: Zachary, Alex, Michael and Katie Ellerthorpe, and Kaleb and Brayden Lichty; and special friends: Jeannette and Winnie Taft and their daughters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce R. Kintigh officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the associate's appreciation fund at Clare Bridge of Battle Creek. www.henryfuneralhome.org
