Elizabeth O'Hara

Battle Creek - Age 89, died on January 10, 2021. Elizabeth was born October 18, 1931 in Zoppola, Italy, the daughter of Attilio and Regina (Cassini) Martin. Liz was a genuine, kind-hearted woman who made family and strangers alike feel as if they were the most important people in the world. Her natural desire to listen earned her a great number of lifelong friends, many of whom she made through bridge club or bowling leagues. Everyone looked forward to a phone call and conversation with Liz. She shared her Italian heritage and love of tradition freely, regularly sending cards or simply bringing people together for special occasions. She could sew just about anything, mostly by scratch, including the bridesmaid's dresses, curtains, and the very best Barbie Doll clothes. Also an avid shopper, Liz had a talent for hunting the best bargains in town. She often bought more than she herself needed and shared willingly with everyone around her. Her generosity, comfort, and optimism will surely live in the hearts of those she so dearly loved.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; their daughter, Gina; and her brother, Livio Martin. Surviving are her children: Michael O'Hara, Kathy (Dave) Vaughn, and Mary (Jimmie) Good; grandchildren: Jacob, Hannah, Jared, Kelly, Meghan, Kalica, Jonathan, Ryan, and Jenny; great-grandchildren: Kyran, Kyley, Quincy, Cameron, Beau, Ella, Olivia, Connor, Isaac, and Silas; her brother: Foster (Linda) Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Visit Liz's personal webpage at www.BetzlerLifeStory.com where you may read her Life Story, archive a favorite memory or photo, and sign her online guestbook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. It is with a heavy heart that I read the beautiful life story of your mom. One of my mom's best friends, she was our always "Auntie Liz" to me.. Wonderful memories of her and your family, when we were young, and of her in more recent years, come flooding back. Mom's close friend during mom's last years, she was so good to mom. I am thankful to have had her in my life and she will be missed. Sending my condolences and prayers to all of you.
