Sandra Irene "Sandy" O'Connor Scotts Sandra Irene "Sandy" O'Connor, 41, of Scotts and formerly of Battle Creek died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, as a result of an automobile accident. Sandy was born February 2, 1970, in Battle Creek to George Harvey and Sharon Ann (Whitman) Lewis. She grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1988 graduate of Lakeview High School. Sandy had been employed for 15 years at Meijer, Inc. on W. Columbia Avenue, and was currently working in the Produce Department. On April 24, 2004, Sandy was united in marriage to Shaun M. O'Connor at Ft. Custer Chapel. They made their new home in Scotts by adding a large addition on Shaun's home with plans to raise a family. Surviving are her husband, Shaun and daughter, Allison Marie O'Connor at home; mother, Sharon A. "Sherry" Lewis of Battle Creek; brother, Earl (Tina) Lewis and niece Camille Lewis of Battle Creek; mother and father-in-law, Don and Barb O'Connor of Scotts; grandmother-in-law, Gertrude VanAvery of Scotts; sister-in-law, Kelly (Jeff) Lewis and nieces Kaleen and McKenna Lewis of Galesburg; aunt Norma Krutsch of Battle Creek, special cousin, Susan Dussia; and best friend, Dawn Ferris. Sandy was preceded in death by her father, George. Sandy (nicknamed "Lobster" because she sunburned so easily) enjoyed many things. She was an avid fan of Alice Cooper and had met him five times. She was also fond of the Dallas Cowboys, Snoopy and she very much loved her cats. But the greatest enjoyment of her life came from the love of her family. Most precious was her almost one year old daughter Allison Marie, a late life miracle who was her greatest joy. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where Sandy's family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allison Marie O'Connor Education Fund. Personal messages for the family may be placed at

We are so saddened by this tragic loss. We know Shaun as an employee and a friend, and know how much in love he and Sandy were. They were so blessed to have a daughter to share life with. Sandy will be dearly missed! With her passing, the world lost a wife, a mother, a daughter, and best friend. May God give you, her family and friends, the strength to carry on. May God also give you comfort and peace.
