Sue Ellen Yerge

Bellevue - Sue Ellen Yerge, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, of Bellevue, died Sunday, January 3, 2021. Sue Ellen, 72, was born January 14, 1948, in Charlotte, MI, that daughter of Vern and Elaine (Crites) Ripley. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966, and then attended Borgess School of Nursing, earning her degree in 1969. On October 4, 1969 she married her sweetheart, Terry Yerge, and started their family together. Sue Ellen worked as a Registered Nurse most recently at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek, retiring in 2010. She is a proud member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Bellevue. Sue Ellen loved planning for parties, dinners, and weddings, she always enjoyed the thrill of planning events. She cherished spending time with her family. In 1989 Sue and Terry built their family home, where they created long lasting memories. Sue Ellen also enjoyed traveling up north, out west and to the family's lake house on Six Lakes. Her passions in life were her flower beds, collecting antiques, crafting, working on her family's ancestry and her grandchildren.

Sue Ellen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Terry; children, Michael (Becky) Yerge, Jason Yerge, and Sarah (Tony) Bucholtz; 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Mackenzie, and Wyatt; siblings, Patrick (Beth) Ripley, John '(Roxanne) Ripley, Karen Jo (Bill) O'Rourke, Mary Crisher, mother-in-law, Robbie Yerge; brother-in-law, Bill (Jane) Yerge; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ampey and Bonnie Swift. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Michael Ripley; sister, Carol Ann Ripley; and father-in-law, William Yerge.

Friends are encouraged to support Sue Ellen's family. Funeral services are Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bellevue with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop officiating. Visitation is Friday, January 8, 2021 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte from 3-5:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. with a Rosary service starting at 6:30 p.m. Mask, group capacity, and distancing guidelines will be practiced. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Bellevue Fire Department. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Sue Ellen on her Tribute Page at The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
