Richard Kiessling Obituary
Richard Jay Kiessling

Richard Jay Kiessling, age 77, of Olivet died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Mr. Kiessling was born on March 21, 1937 in Tiffin, Ohio to George and Evelyn (Stierwalt) Kiessling.  He had been employed by Albion Industries for 29 years, retiring as the Purchasing Manager in 1999.  Richard received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio.  During the early 1960's, he served in the United States Army.

Richard was a member of the Claude E. Hale V.F.W. Post in Marshall and the Elks Club.  He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing; his favorite pastimes were hunting, camping and bird watching.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They loved their "Opa" who taught them so many things.  A favorite outing was traveling with his family to camp and fish along the Manistee River.  His greatest joy was his family.

Richard was an avid Buckeye fan, much to the chagrin of his children who are Wolverine and Spartan fans.  Many spirited discussions took place while watching games.

He is survived by his wife, Brigitte ; son, Jeff (Lisa) Kiessling of Marshall; step-children, Donald (Debra) Moga of Olivet and Steven Moga of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Logan Kiessling, Kristy Moga VanSickle (Nick), Jenni Moga Rombaugh, Kyle and Hunter Moga and, Marty (Stefanie) Moga; and great grandchildren, Mercedes,  Camden,  Addison, Blake Vansickle; and Karson and Kendi Moga.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Kiessling in 1977.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Monday from 3 PM to 7 PM at Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Homes, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall.

Memorial contributions are to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
