Leon Wilbur Pifer, 80, of Athens died October 24, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.

He was born October 20, 1933, the son of Fredrick H. and Vesta M. (Fisher) Pifer in Fremont, Indiana. 

Leon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned to work at Kellogg's for 35 years until retiring in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. (Lower) Pifer of Athens; son, Barry (Connie) Pifer of Caledonia; daughters, Debra (Timothy) Yancer of Athens, Linda (Donald) Weirich of Greenfield, Indiana; four grandsons, three granddaughters; 11 great grandchildren;  brothers, Harold (Ardy) Pifer of Union City, Phillip (Sandy) Pifer of Greenfield, Indiana; sister, Janet (Jack) Marunde of Spalding, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.  Leon was preceded in death by his parents;  brother, Albert Pifer and infant sister, Beverly Pifer.

Leon was a member of Factoryville Bible Church and the Kellogg 25 Year Club. Leon enjoyed woodworking and built several cabinets, shelves and desks at the church before and after a fire.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Shaw Funeral Home.  Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Factoryville Bible Church with Rev. Fred Goedert officiating.  Interment Burr Oak Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Youth Haven Ranch, 3796 Perrine Road, Rives Junction, MI or Lifespan-Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.

The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
