Robert Scott Baily, 63
Robert Scott Baily was born September 27, 1949, in Washington, DC, the son of George Bond Baily and Elizabeth Ammons Baily. He grew up in Silver Spring, MD, graduating from high school in 1968, where he was on the football team and also assisted first responders on the ambulance service. He graduated from Elon College, North Carolina, with a degree in psychology.
A Naval ROTC participant, Mr. Baily was commissioned a naval officer upon his college graduation. He served six years in the Navy as a naval aviator, flying A6 fighter/bombers off the aircraft carriers John F. Kennedy and the Bonhomme Richard. After his military service, he began a thirty-five year career with the US Department of Agriculture, working with several different agencies, finally with the US Forest Service in the Washington office. After retiring from the Forest Service, he moved to Mountain Home, where he has resided since.
Scott is survived by his wife, April, of the home; daughter, Shannon Baily of Alexandria, VA; stepdaughter Kristine Chapman of Denver, CO; two brothers, George Baily of Silver Spring, MD and John (Cyndi) Baily of Quebec, Canada; niece, Brianna Baily of Washington, DC and nephew Connor Baily, Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Father Jim McDonald officiating. Burial will be private under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 511 Coley Drive, Mountain Home, AR 72653.
