Donald D. Franklin, 88
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors for Donald D. "Deano" Franklin, 88, will be 2PM, Thursday May 2, 1013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas. Deano passed away Saturday April 27, 2013.
Deano was born March 8, 1925, at Pratt, KS to William and Lucille Franklin. Deano proudly served his country as a submariner during WWII in the United States Navy. He worked as a pipeline welder for Iowa Illinois Gas & Electric before retiring to Bull Shoals, AR. Deano was a member of the Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341 VFW and could be found in the kitchen on Sunday's in charge of the bacon, biscuits and gravy. He was an avid golfer known to golf several rounds in a day. Deano enjoyed being part of the community and could be found at every church supper, fish fry and community pancake breakfast. He loved a good meal.
Deano is survived by his devoted partner, Marge Spraitz of sixteen years from Bull Shoals, AR; three children, David Franklin (Kathleen) of Sherrard, IL, Darryl Franklin (Gina) of Encinistas, CA, and Kathy Branton of Bull Shoals, AR; sister Norma Peak of E. Moline, IL; four grandchildren, Andrea Ripley and Bryan Wills (Heather) and Kaylin and Camaryn Franklin; great-grandchild, Adeline Ripley.
