Lessadale "Lessie" Rowlett

Conway - Lessadale "Lessie" Rowlett passed away Tuesday, March 23rd in Conway, AR Lessie was born October 8, 1934 in Custer, AR to Lois and Cecil Rowlett. She attended grade school in a one-room school, and graduated high school from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, MO. She and her cousins had so many adventures together. Lessie and her family moved to California in the 1950s, after the completion of the Norfork dam. Lessie worked for Pacific Bell for 25 years, starting as a switchboard operator, and ending her career as a sales representative when she retired in 1990. She made many good memories and lifelong friends while working there. In 2004, Lessie left California and moved back home to the Ozark Mountains. Lessie loved her extended family, and was very proud of her deep family roots. It meant so much to her to be able to live again in a place that meant so much to her; thank you so much to her Ozark family for your generosity, love and hospitality that made her feel so much at home, again.

Lessie is survived by her daughter, Julie, grandchildren Hannah and Uriah, brother Harold, sister Phyllis, nieces Dorinda, Kim and Susie, nephews Gary and Darrell. She is also survived by many cousins whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lois, brother Donald and sister Zelma. Lessie will be laid to rest next to her family at Bean Cemetery in Gamaliel.

We will gather together to celebrate Lessie on Saturday, April 10th, from 12-4 pm at the firehouse in Gamaliel, AR. Lessie loved a good gathering of people, so please join us if you can.

Leslie was more than a cousin, she was like a sister. She was always so happy to she me and always made me welcome. She was a warm wonderful person and she loved her family dearly. I wish I could hug her just one more time.
