Mitchell Selligman III, 84

Mitchell "Mickey" Selligman III, 84, of St. Louis passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, with his loving wife and son by his side. Mickey was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Mitchell Selligman Jr. and Frances Conwell Selligman.

After graduating in 1951 from Webster Groves High School (Mo.), he served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as an Interior Communications Electrician on various vessels, notably the USS Intrepid.

In 1959, he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas and began a thirty-six-year career with Baldwin Piano and Organ. Known to his colleagues as "Mike," he worked as an electrical engineer in Cincinnati, and over the years managed Baldwin plants in Trumann, Conway, and Fayetteville, Ark.

A lifelong model railroader and railfan, he opened a hobby shop - Mickey's Model Works - that operated in Fayetteville, Conway and Mountain Home, Ark., from 1989 to 2009.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother George Selligman of Maumelle, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; his son, Glen Selligman (Lisa), and grandchildren Galen and Lillian Selligman of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters-in-law Betty Selligman Rogers (Joe) of Maumelle, Ark., and Ethel Latta (G.H.) of Searcy, Ark.; four nieces, many great-nieces and great-nephews, beloved cousins, and many amazing friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Railroad Museum in Pine Bluff or the University of Arkansas School of Engineering, Fayetteville.

A celebration of his life will be held from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at The Firehouse at 506 Second St., in Cotter, Ark. Arrangements by Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis, 314-832-7770. Mickey's online guestbook may be signed at http://www.hoffmeistercolonial.com.
