William Monroe Smith (Bill)

Mountain View - William Monroe Smith (Bill) 83 of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on May 14, 2018 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Bill was born March 12, 1935 in Zion, Illinois. He was the second of seven children born to Arthur Leonard Smith and Esther Irene Smith (Hall).

Several years later the family moved to Wisconsin. At 17 Bill entered the Navy. As he often said, "he stayed 20 years to see if he liked it and to eat out of all the trays." He retired as Chief Machinist Mate from Millington, Tennessee in 1972. He moved at that time, with his first wife, Victoria Smith (Stubbs), to Mountain View, Arkansas. During his time in Mountain View he ran for sheriff twice and was Chair of the Republican Committee for Stone county. He owned a couple of businesses and was a cross country truck driver for 22 years. His religious belief was Baptist. Bill was a member of the NRA and a woodworker. He enjoyed making clocks, picture frames and coffee tables.

He and his second wife Carolyn Alohalea Smith (Littrell) moved to Colfax, Wisconsin for 6 years before returning to Mountain View.

He is survived by his second wife, two step daughters, Susan Alohalea Wolf (Prescott) and husband Victor of Riverside, California, two grandsons, Christopher Wolf of Oakland, California and Matthew Wolf and wife Heather of Riverside, California, Kimberly Rose Sutterfield (Prescott) and husband Russell and two grandsons, Aaron Sutterfield and wife Kelsey and Andrew Sutterfield of Mountain View, Arkansas. Stepson Richard Astle Jr. and wife Brenda, grandson Richard Astle IV and great grandson Richard Astle V and Dominic Astle all of Mountain View, Arkansas. Sisters Annie Jorgenson and husband Al of Rockfort, Illinois, Ollie Schutts of Menomonie, Wisconsin and Mary Rose Smith of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, two brothers, Harley Smith of Rockfort, Illinois and John Smith of Camdenton, Missouri and many nephews, nieces and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Mountain View Funeral Service and his funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. in Mountain View Funeral Service Chapel by Brother Joseph Blake with burial in Elizabeth Cemetery will full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Russell Sutterfield, Aaron Sutterfield, Andrew Sutterfield, Richard Lee Astle IV, Richard Lee Astle V and Donomic Xabier Astle.. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Service 870 269-4501.
